Date published: 28 August 2012

Janet Emsley, Director of Performing Arts at Wardle High School said: "We are pleased to announce our best GCSE results ever.

"Through hard work and determination our students have achieved some tremendous grades. All aspects of our performance have improved since last year, we are particularly proud of the 23% improvement in our 5 A*- C percentage.

"These achievements have been made possible through the support and guidance of our staff, teaching and non-teaching. There are many local colleges and employers who, once again, are going to benefit from the quality of our students."

Dr. Wright, Headteacher said: "This year we have achieved the best set of results by a long way with 5A*- C (including English and Maths) up from 56% - 64%. 5A*- C overall up from 73%-96%.

"There have been lots of good individual student performances and many students attaining good GCSEs one or two years early.

"It was very rewarding to see the students succeed down to both their hard work and the joint support from both teachers and parents.

"It comes on the back of a good set of A Level results."
