Bring a tin

Rev Sharon Jones and Margaret Wight with some food already collected for the Foodbank
We are starting to collect food! That is the message that ‘Rochdale Foodbank’ is bringing to the Feel Good Festival, where the newly-formed Foodbank is taking a stall.
“We aren’t selling anything” says Margaret Wight, one of the leaders, “but we are looking to make a start collecting food for the Foodbank. We need over 2 tonnes of food before we can open our doors to referrals, so the sooner that happens, the sooner people will be helped. So please, everyone, bring a tin."
Rev Sharon Stone, Area Dean, and one of leadership team for Rochdale Foodbank, said: "We are already receiving calls for help, that may be just the tip of the iceberg, so we are relying on the whole community to give food, so that Rochdale families in crisis can be helped."
Volunteers will be manning the stall to receive food, and to give more information about how the Foodbank works. There will also be options to join the volunteer team, to make donations, or to become a sponsor.
