Date published: 23 August 2012
Shortly before 5.30pm on Wednesday 22 August 2012, police officers on patrol on Bury Road, Rochdale, saw a BMW 3-series driving suspiciously.
Officers followed the car which was then involved in a collision with a Mercedes and a lamppost on the corner of Holmes Street and College Road Rochdale.
Fire officers and police attended the scene and closed the road for a shot time.
Nobody was injured in the collision.
A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for a police officer and possession of cannabis. He has been bailed until 5 September 2012 pending further police inquiries, which are ongoing.
In line with procedure, the driver of the police vehicle that was following the BMW was suspended from driving duties, but this suspension has now been lifted.
