Denis Hope suit up for Celebrity Wedding Planner show

Date published: 17 August 2012

Rochdale clothing store Denis Hope will appear in the new series of successful Channel 5 show Celebrity Wedding Planner this week.

The Drake Street store was approached to supply wedding attire for the show, which airs this Monday (20 August), back in May and were happy to lend their services.

Celebrity Wedding Planner, now in its second series, features two celebrities armed with a £21,000.00 budget to plan an ordinary couple’s big day.

Store representative Phil Buckley said: “We got a phone call from the production company asking if we were interested. We thought ‘why not?’, so they came and checked out the store and loved it.”

Denis Hope staff were unaware of the featured celebrities - Pineapple Dance Studios’ Louie Spence and Benidorm star Jake Canuso - until the day of filming, and were pleasantly surprised with the duo.

Phil said: “We had no idea who the celebrities would be, but on the day Louie and Jake turned up. We were quite lucky; they were great lads. It was actually a friend of Jake’s who’d suggested our store, which was fantastic.

“The couple were from Accrington and Lancaster, so it was great they’d approached us from far and wide. We supplied the full outfit - suit, Hugo Boss shirt, everything - for the groom all chosen by Louie and Jake. He loved it.

“They also wanted seven suits for the dad and ushers, but they’d already blown their budget elsewhere, so they all hired their outfits.”

Phil also thinks the show’s great publicity for the town, saying: “It’s a great story for retail in Rochdale at a time when some in the area are struggling.”
