Help on offer to wrap your home up warm
Date published: 20 January 2008
If you are a homeowner in one of the borough's Housing Market Renewal neighbourhoods, you could get help with a range of Energy Efficiency measures at discounted prices.
The All Wrapped Up scheme, run by the Energy Efficiency Advice Centre, aims to help residents reduce their fuel bills and create warmer and more comfortable homes.
The offer is available to all private householders in the Housing Market Renewal (HMR) Pathfinder area, which is made up of more than 30 neighbourhoods in Rochdale, Middleton and Oldham.
Householders do not need to be in receipt of benefits to qualify. However there are other offers available to households receiving benefits, such as the Government’s Warm Front Grant that can help with installing or repairing central heating.
To find out if you live in the HMR area and are eligible for this offer, you can phone 0800 512012 or visit the HMR website at:
To confirm eligibility, please contact the Energy Efficiency Advice Centre.
The measures available on the scheme are:
Cavity wall insulation and loft insulation – grants of £100 towards each of these measures, providing significant benefits for the homeowner. Typical cost to residents would be £99.
Replacement boiler. You could get a grant of £250 towards a new more energy-efficient boiler.
Katherine Brooks from the Energy Efficiency Advice Centre said: “By having your insulation upgraded, you could easily save over £150 a year on your heating bill. You’ll also be cutting greenhouse gas emissions as you reduce the energy you use. Applying for this offer couldn’t be easier, simply contact the Energy Efficiency Advice Centre free on 0800 512012 to arrange a no-obligation survey."
Representatives from the registered installers on the scheme Insulation UK will be assessing properties in the neighbourhood over the next few weeks and may call round to offer further advice and/or offer to assess your property.
To be eligible you must be a private owner-occupier living in the HMR Pathfinder area. Actual measures that can be installed and costs will depend on suitability of property and will be determined through survey. Costs are given as a guide to typical property sizes.
