Wardle High Student chosen to represent Great Britain

Wardle High School student Christian Darlington has been selected to represent Great Britain in a wheelchair football training competition on 28 October.

Christian, who is in Year 9, has managed to fight off competition from 400 applicants to become one of twenty people selected to take part in the WFA Training competition in Portugal.

The competition features other children from Portugal, Belgium, France, Japan, Australia and America. 

Christian first began playing wheelchair football when he joined the Bolton Bullets. Since then the team have won the North West League, come second in the National League and have been promoted to the Premiership.

Christian himself contributed 37 goals in the National League and is the 3rd top goal scorer in the country.

Christian said: “I have had a really good year at football, my team won the NW League and the cup in the National League. I love playing football, I get to travel all over the country. I have made so many friends from all over. Bring on next season!”
