Oulder Hill’s golden careers education and guidance

Date published: 22 June 2012

Rochdale’s Oulder Hill Community School and Language College has achieved a gold award for the standard of careers education and advice it provides for students.

The Inspiring IAG award recognises the provision of good quality careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) in organisations that work with young people across Greater Manchester.

Neil Coe, Assistant Head at Oulder Hill, said: “We’re delighted to have achieved the gold award but, more importantly, it shows that the guidance and support we’re providing to pupils to help them make informed choices about their futures is beneficial.”

Councillor Donna Martin, Cabinet Member for Children, Schools and Families at Rochdale Borough Council, welcomed the news: “The number of schools across the borough that are being recognised for the quality of CEIAG is increasing which is fantastic news for our young people. I congratulate Oulder Hill on their achievement.”

The external Inspiring IAG assessor’s summary report said the school’s CEIAG is well managed, resourced and co-ordinated, adding that: “Pupils value and appreciate the help, advice and support they receive from their teachers in helping them to prepare for their post-16 transitions and beyond.”
