Residents in the Shawclough area of Rochdale are being urged to take precautions following a recent spike in residential burglaries over the past week, according to the Rochdale North policing team.
PCSO Haider of the Rochdale North Team shared advice to help residents protect their homes and valuables. He said, “Don’t forget to turn on your burglar alarms and light timers – this will give the impression that someone is home.”
Further tips from the team include ensuring windows and doors are locked when leaving the house, especially at night, and avoiding leaving homes in darkness, as this may attract burglars.
PCSO Haider also warned residents in a Bee in the Loop email, not to leave valuable items on display. “Ensure to lock your cars and place your keys in a safe and secure place,” he said, adding that a ‘Faraday pouch’ could be a worthwhile investment to protect vehicle keys.
The police have urged Shawclough residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately by calling 999 in emergencies.
