Rebecca Jolly prepares for the jump
A Co-operative Pharmacy employee took to the skies recently raising almost £600 for The Co-operative’s charity of the year.
Rebecca Jolly, who provides operational support to pharmacy branch teams at The Co-operative Pharmacy’s head office in Rochdale, was joined by supportive colleagues as she completed her first skydive in aid of Mencap and its sister charity ENABLE Scotland.
The jump took place at the Black Knights Parachute Centre in Cockerham, near Lancaster.
Ms Jolly, 26, from Middleton, said: “I like adrenalin sports but I’ve never jumped out of a plane before and was really keen to give it a go.
“It was a fantastic way to raise money and it’s great to know that it will help the charity transform the lives of 20,000 young people with a learning disability.”
Thanks to the efforts of Co-operative colleagues, Mencap is now rolling out its “Inspire Me” programme at locations across the UK, providing activities, training, employment and volunteering opportunities that will give young people with a learning disability the chance to build their confidence and develop life skills.
