Kind-hearted slimmers from a Weight Watchers group are putting their weight behind a ‘sponsored slim’ to raise much needed funds for the day-to-day running costs of the Springhill Hospice.
The group, which meets at Springhill Hospice Day Care Centre every Tuesday evening at 6.30pm, is inviting anyone who wants to lose weight in 2011 to join them in their fundraising adventure.
Over the coming months it is hoped that as members lose pounds (lbs) they can gain pounds (£££) for the charity.
Dean Connaughton, Fundraiser for Springhill Hospice, said: “This year we thought it would be a great idea to mix New Year resolutions with raising funds for Springhill.
“Everyone knows how hard it is to keep resolutions up, but with something like this it could give you an extra drive to achieve your target weight loss, as well as giving yourself a little feel good factor for the upcoming months ahead, once you have raised your sponsorship.
Mr Connaughton added: “You don’t have to be a member of Weight Watchers, you can do it from the comfort of your own home or even at work, although you would be more than welcome to join the meetings on Tuesdays”.
Details of how to get involved can be found by attending the Tuesday meetings or by contacting Dean Connaughton in the Fundraising Office on (01706) 649920 or dean.connaghton@springhillhospice.nhs.uk.
All of the money the slimmers raise will go to Springhill Hospice.
