Train disruption caused by cable theft

Network Rail reported an attack on signalling in the early hours of this morning between Manchester Victoria and Rochdale.
Rail passengers travelling between Rochdale and Manchester Victoria may be facing disruption this morning (Wednesday 5 January 2011) because of suspected cable theft.
Network Rail reported an attack on signalling in the early hours of this morning between Manchester Victoria and Rochdale.
This means that instead of the usual four trains per hour between Rochdale and Manchester Victoria there are just two – with the others terminating at Rochdale and Manchester Victoria.
A spokesperson for Northern Rail, said: “The estimate we have from Network Rail for the line to be fully reinstated is early afternoon.”
