Three robbers stormed a hotel reception, jumped the desk and stole cash in Middleton.
At about 7.40pm on Tuesday 21 December 2010, the offenders burst into the Premier Inn on Manchester Old Road.
They jumped over the reception desk and went into an office, where they demanded cash and threatened a member of staff.
No weapons were seen.
The men stole a quantity of cash and then fled.
The offenders are described as being white, between 6ft and 6ft 2ins tall, of medium build and all were wearing dark clothing.
Detective Constable Janice Cruttwell, of Rochdale CID, said: "This was a terrifying experience for the man who was on duty that night and he has been left shaken.
"The hotel is on a busy road and I would appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at or around the time of the robbery and who may have seen the men matching the description to contact police."
Anyone with any information should call Rochdale CID on 0161 856 4646 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
