Help us make savings, says council
Date published: 24 December 2010
Rochdale Borough Council is reminding residents that there’s still time to have your say on where the council can make savings. The closing date for the current public consultation is 26 January at 5pm.
The potential saving proposals are on the council website (www.rochdale.gov.uk/yourviews) where you can comment on the ideas and rate them individually.
Last month Rochdale Borough Council put forward this second phase of savings proposals to help save £50 million in the next financial year, after £13 million of savings were agreed in phase one.
You can also view a printed copy of the proposals at any local library or council customer service centre. There you can make your comments in writing or online using the free computers, and staff will be happy to assist you.
Executive Director Pam Smith said she hopes the consultation is raising awareness of the challenges the council is facing and what it means for public services: “I would like to thank everyone who has already given us feedback. We really do need to hear the views of those affected so that our decisions are well informed and the impact of changes is clearly understood. We are asking for the involvement of our customers on how we can best provide services in a very different era to the one we have been used to.”
There’s still time to give your views - visit www.rochdale.gov.uk/yourviews email savings.proposals@rochdale.gov.uk or send comments by post to: Phase Two Public Consultation, Floor 6, Telegraph House, Baillie Street, Rochdale OL16 1J
Comments and suggestions received by the 26 January will be considered before spending decisions are announced in mid February 2011.
