Festive fun for Middleton Rotarians

Date published: 21 December 2010

Members of the Rotary Club of Middleton enjoyed their annual Christmas party last night (Monday 20 December 2010).

Rotarians gathered at the Norton Grange Hotel for the meal where they also enjoyed listening to a talk about Christmas from a Jewish perspective and music from Bury Grammar School musicians.

Part of the Christmas party also saw two special presentations made by President Janice Powell.

The first award went to Rotarian Jean O’Loughlin for her service.

Mrs O’Loughlin has been a JP for 25years and an Assistant Guide Commissioner for many years. She is a Eucharist minister at North Manchester Hospital, she organises and runs St Thomas Moore elderly people’s club, she works for the WVS Meals on Wheels, she has been awarded an OBE for her community work and last but by no means least, is an active member of Inner Wheel and is this year’s President.

She was given a token of token of recognition, of all that she has done and continues to do.

The second presentation was a Vocational Award which was presented to Matt McCormick at the Norton Grange. Mr McCormick is responsible for looking after the Rotarians most Monday nights and this year has also given up some of his time to go collecting with the Christmas float.
