St Andrew's, Dearnley and Smithy Bridge

The popular St Andrew's puppets will take centre stage in Church on Christmas Eve at a 4pm Crib Service which has been specially prepared for children and their families.

The Midnight Eucharist will start at 11pm (note the earlier start this year) and there will also be a Family Eucharist at 10am on Christmas Day and the usual Sunday services on Boxing Day at 8am and 10am.

A packed Church last Sunday night enjoyed musical excellence provided by the Wardle Anderson Brass Band at a Carol Concert, featuring a mix of traditional carols and popular Christmas songs.

The choir gave a rendition of seasonal anthems, and children responded enthusiastically when invited to go to the front and sing 'Away In A Manger' and other children's favourites as only they can.

Mulled wine and mince pies went down well during the interval and at the same time raised money for church funds. A retiring collection boosted the Wider Welcome scheme fund, as did the Christmas Draw, organised by Stuart Carmichael.
