Harry Muncaster, President of Rochdale Photographic Society 2010-2011, set a tricky task for his themed competition when he set the subject as "This Way - That Way", asking for a pair of photos taken from the same point, but each looking in the opposite direction.
On Wednesday (15 December 2010), Mike Davis won with two photos - called "Snow Ways" - taken after the recent snow on Rochdale Golf course, with the sun shining through a frost covered tree, and the shadow of the tree in the opposite direction.
Runners up were Pat Noon, with photos taken in the Versailles Hall of Mirrors, and Sandra Walker with photos along the Mersey front by Liverpool's Albert Dock.
Mr Davis said: "I was wondering what to submit up to the week before, but sunshine and snow together is always an inspiration, and I'm fortunate enough to live near the golf course and took the photos there. These competitions always provide a challenge to improve one's photography."
The Rochdale Photographic Society meet on Wednesday evenings at 7.45pm at the Liberal Democrat HQ in Drake Street; new members are always welcome.
