Icy roads affect bus services

Bus operators are reporting that icy road conditions in some parts of Greater Manchester are still affecting a number of services.

Although there has not been any further significant snowfall since yesterday, temperatures have stayed well below freezing overnight.

This continues to affect road conditions on minor roads and housing estates served by buses.

Reported changes to bus services in Greater Manchester

First in Manchester

Wigan:

Services currently operating in the Wigan area, but along main roads only:

33 - unable to serve Princess Avenue

540 - unable to serve Castle Hill Estate and Long Lane using the A58 through to Westoughton omitting Washacre

593 - omitting Belle Green Estate

600/1 - omitting Old Road, Edge Green Lane and Heath Street

610 - unable to serve Fulbeck or Crooked Wheel, using the A49 and Marus Bridge to and from Carr Lane terminus

658 - unable to serve Higher Fold

Services on the 621, 625, 626, 628 and 631 routes are suspended.

Bolton:

8, 37, 68, 471, 524 & 582 are operating via normal routes

22 - not serving Pilkington Road, Springfield Estate
36 - unable to serve Madamswood Road and Kenyon Way

501 - between Bolton-Moss Bank Way service is operating via 519 route in both directions. Between Bolton-Farnworth, service is operating via Plodder Lane and is unable to serve Highfield Estate.

Bury: All services operating.

98 & 524 - unable to use Radcliffe bus station

93 - unable to serve Whitefield bus station or Stanley Road

163 - unable to serve Darn Hill Estate

472/474 - unable to serve Eliza Street, Ramsbottom

Ashton & Tameside: All services operating normal routes

Manchester:

18 - unable to serve Windermere Road, operating via Wood Street and Bowness Road

88/89 - unable to serve Bank House, operating via Middleton Road and Victoria Avenue

164 - unable to serve Waverley Road, Hollins Estate.

Oldham & Rochdale:

All routes operating, but many via main roads only:

59 - unable to access Rushcroft, terminating at Shaw Wrens Nest

64 - unable to serve Coldhurst and Dam Head

81 - operating to Vulcan Street via Huddersfield Road and Rippendon Road, then returning to Oldham via normal route

83 - operating to / from Sholver terminus via Wilkes Street

184 - unable to serve Diggle due to parked cars on Sam Road - these services are currently terminating at the Navigation PH

415 - operating via Huddersfield Road & Stamford Road - omitting Greenacres and Mill Bottom

425 - unable to serve Alt Estate. At Fitton Hill services are terminating/starting at The Green.

South Lancs Travel:

126 - operate normally

615 - operate but omiting Washacre, Lostock Lane and operating between Horwich and Wigan direct via Aspull, omiting Little Scotland, Haigh and estates

583 - only operating to Atherton Centre and omiting Abbey Lane estate

584 - operate normally

Stagecoach Manchester

236 & 237: In Glossop, buses are unable to serve Royal Oak and are terminating at Manor Park
