Councillor recognised for 25 years of service

A Rochdale Councillor has been recognised for 25 years of service within the council – on the same day as her birthday.

Councillor Susan Emmott, was presented with an award for long service at tonight’s (Wednesday 15 December 2010) meeting of full council.

Councillor Emmott is a Labour Councillor in the Hopwood Ward.

She was presented the award by the Leader of Rochdale Council, Councillor Colin Lambert.

He said: “You have been a loyal servant to the people of Heywood. This is a well deserved award that recognises your commitment for serving their needs.”

Councillor Emmott said: “After first being elected in 1984 this has been a long time coming – I have enjoyed every minute of being a Councillor.

“The highlight for me was my year as Mayor in 1996-7.”

Councillor Emmott added: “I have seen some things in this chamber and I have met some characters.”
