New chairman of the stadium company decided

Date published: 15 December 2010

A new chairman of the Denehurst Park Stadium Company has been decided following the collapse of the coalition council which ran Rochdale Council.

Labour has taken over the Council and subsequently a Labour Councillor has been chosen to fill the role.

Councillor Martin Burke will fill the role which was previously carried out by Councillor Peter Rush.

The new Leader of Rochdale Council, Councillor Colin Lambert, said: “The board is confident that our applicant can fill everything that has been promised.

“This is an important time for the borough and for the football club.”

In a bid to hold his position, Councillor Peter Rush, said since starting with the stadium company all it has been is “debt debt debt” and arguments about the rent.

He said: “I feel as though I have still got a job to do.”

However, the Labour Party wanted one of their own Councillors to fill the position.

Councillor Burke received 31 votes and Councillor Rush received 24 votes.
