Guide to public transport this Christmas

Date published: 13 December 2010

Passengers can now pick up a handy guide to public transport over the festive season to help them plan their journeys around Christmas time.

Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive (GMPTE) in conjunction with the various operators has produced 40,000 of the popular annual guides to keep passengers informed about services over the festive period.

The guides, now available from GMPTE Travelshops, libraries and rail stations cover Metrolink, train and bus services – including Local Link and Ring & Ride – between 20 December and 4 January.

Michael Renshaw, GMPTE’s Bus & Rail Director, said: “Whether you are a regular public transport user or not over the festive period this guide is of value to you, to plan your journey.

“While there are traditionally fewer services over Christmas and New Year, there are often still more buses, trains and trams running than people might expect, and that’s where our popular pocket guides come into play.

“They're straightforward, easy to use and handy – so there’s one less thing to have to think about at this busy time of year.”

In addition to the pocket guides, posters will be displayed at bus, rail and Metrolink stations.
