Beci Hanson gets down to practical present making
December got off to a festive start at Castleton Sure Start Children’s Centre when families were joined by community artist, Joanne Phillips to make their own Christmas toys.
Whilst the children were looked after in the crèche, parents got out their tools and paint brushes to make surprise Christmas gifts for their children.
The parents made jigsaws themed around popular children’s stories including five little ducks, five little speckled frogs and a story about spacemen. They finished them off in brightly coloured paint.
The idea was to have something the children and parents could enjoy doing together at home, and read the story together as well. In making the jigsaws, families will be able to enjoy and achieve together.
Parent, Jemma Kersch made a space themed jigsaw for her son Jack.
She said: “Thank you for providing this free session for us, Jack will love this toy”.
