Police in Rochdale have arrested 14 people this morning, (Thursday 9 December 2010) in the second day of a two day operation to crackdown on drug dealing.

Police raided 15 more addresses across the Middleton, Moston, Cheetham Hill and Heywood areas as part of Operation Frond.

Items seized today included firearms, class A drugs valued at approximately £40,000 and £3,000 in cash.

Today’s raids involved over 70 officers and searches will continue during the day.

Superintendent Martin Greenhalgh for Rochdale Division, said: “Today’s action is a further emphasis to the community that we take drug dealing seriously.

“Once again we have targeted a series of addresses following months of intelligence gathering by our teams. We want these offenders to know that there criminality will not be tolerated. Our communities have told us drug dealing is an issue that they want us to crackdown on and this action is just the part of our ongoing work.

“The message is simple, if you are dealing in drugs, we will be coming through your door.”

Twelve men and two women were arrested on suspicion of drug related offences and money laundering and remain in custody for questioning.
