Mock examinations for Years 11 and 13 are just around the corner. Year 13 mocks run from Friday 10 to Thursday 16 December. Year 11 mocks are from Monday 13 to Thursday 16 December. It is vital that your child prepares as thoroughly as possible for these exams therefore revision should be well underway. We would be most grateful for your support as parents/carers by ensuring that you take an active part in this with your children.

Please note that school closes for the Christmas holidays at 1.00pm on Friday 17December. We would like to wish everyone a happy and relaxing break and we look forward to seeing all our students when they return in the New Year. School will start again at the normal time on Tuesday 4 January 2011.

A reminder to parents and carers of Year 10 students that the Year 10 Review Day takes place on Wednesday 15 December at which you will have the opportunity to discuss your child’s progress with their form tutor. Please ensure that your child informs you when your allocated time is.

Several students in Years 7, 8 and 9 have recently taken part in a school Spelling Bee. The standard was very high and the team competition was won by two Year 7 girls, Jessica Yung and Lauren Powell, so congratulations go to them. The individual final will take place in the LRC next week where Jessica Yung and Taman Barzinji will go head to head to be crowned the Spelling Bee Champion. Good luck to them. We will keep you informed.

We still have several GCSE certificates from past students that have not been collected – some go back as far as 2004! If you attended Oulder Hill and left between 2004 and 2010 and have certificates to collect, please can you contact the school to arrange collection. Thank you.

Congratulations to the badminton team who tied for first place in the Rochdale Schools Badminton Tournament recently. The boys, who are in Years 8 and 9 were Daniel Harrall, Luke Barrat, Alex Maughan and Abdul Shahid. Congratulations also go to the Year 11 Badminton team who were runners up in the Rochdale Schools Badminton Championship. The team members were Shoaib Ahmed, Ibraheem Alam, Ahmid Karamat, Amir Masood.

As many of you will know, our Headteacher Mrs. Dudley is retiring from her post at Christmas after 5 years here at Oulder Hill. We would like to thank her for the service she has given the school but also congratulate Mr. Watson on becoming the new Headteacher. Mr. Watson, who is currently the Senior Deputy Headteacher, has been at the school since 2006 and will take over in January.
