Community clean up the snow

Date published: 06 December 2010

Members of the Wardleworth community swapped staying in a nice warm house on Saturday (4 December 2010) afternoon for cleaning up the snow to help residents in the area.

Hotspots such as the South Street Nursery, Jack McCann Court and local places of Worship were all swooped upon.

The young people cleared snow from the entrances to most of the buildings and despite the low temperatures the group worked for five hours consecutively to clean up.

Mohammed Sheraz from the Wardleworth Community Centre, said: “Passers by and residents thanked the young people and it was positive to see that young people helping and giving back to their communities.”

Councillor Farooq Ahmed also got in on the act and supported the young people; he congratulated them on the initiative.
