The Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Zulfiqar Ali, officially opened the Rochdale SkillCentre this week.
The new SkillCentre, which is run by Skills Solutions, a partner of Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, is based in Heritage Park on Chichester Street.
Mayor Ali was guest of honour at the opening, alongside Peter Heginbotham OBE, Chair of Skills Solutions.
The Rochdale SkillCentre will provide 16-18-year-old learners in the town with work-based skills and training in key areas such as Business Administration, Construction Craft, Customer Services, IT and Retail, as well as Maths and English. There will also be the possibility to progress on to apprenticeship programmes.
Commenting on the opening of the SkillCentre, Alan Benvie, Director of Foundation Skills at Skills Solutions, said: “We were really pleased to welcome Councillor Ali and all our guests to the opening of the SkillCentre and show them the facilities we have on offer. We have already received a lot of interest in the Centre from young people in the borough. We can provide students with a combination of theory and practical workshops supported with the latest technology in real working environments.”
