Falinge Park High School

Date published: 01 December 2010

This week 160 pupils in Year 10 will receive their certificates for the Foundation Certificate of Secondary Education in French and Spanish.

Many thanks to all the pupils across all years who submitted entries into our Costume Design competition for our school pantomime. The deadline was Friday 3 December and the winners will shortly be announced. The three winners will receive a great prize and certificate.

Ms. Gott and Mr. DeCourcey had great pleasure in attending the Creative and Media Diploma Showcase at St. Cuthberts School this week. The event highlighted some of the good work created by our pupils and we enjoyed discovering how much progress had been made over such a short period of time.

We would like to congratulate Suzanne Booth, an ex pupil who saw her first professional role as an Actress at Salisbury Theatre in a production of ‘Mastering Macbeth’ recently. Suzanne, an ex GCSE Drama pupil at Falinge, is looking forward to a busy few months ahead with forthcoming roles in Euripides’ ‘Hippolytus’ and ‘Fighter Boys’ a production based on the women of World War 2. We look forward to seeing her on our screens very soon.

Tickets for our forthcoming pantomime; ‘Cinderella, A Circus Caper’ are now available. Performances take place on Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 December at 7.00pm in the Hall. This year our story Takes place against a circus background and we look forward to two great, fun-packed evenings. Tickets are £3.00 each (no Concs.) and £10.00 for a family ticket of four. Tickets are available only in advance from school.

Falinge Park High School is hosting an Arts Careers Fayre on 20th January. Letters about this great event will be issued to pupils across school in the next week and parents are welcome to attend the Fayre from 1.45pm until 3.00pm if they wish. The day will see a range of Arts organizations from across the North West gather to showcase the wide range of career pathways available through the Arts.

Mr. DeCourcey and Ms. Gott would like to thank Shawclough Primary school for the recent great work produced by Year 6 pupils through Special Drama sessions held this week at the primary school. The pupils have created extended pieces off writing and we look forward to seeing the submissions for our great Short Story Writing Competition in 2011.

Rehearsals for our school pantomime continue at great pace over the next week. Thanks to all the pupils who came into school this Saturday to rehearse. We will see you all again next Saturday! Many thanks to all parents for the prompt collection of pupils. Don’t forget to bring your lunch with you next Saturday!
