Sponsored walk for flood relief

A Rochdale charity has organised a sponsored walk to raise funds for victims devastated by the floods in Pakistan.
The sponsored walk, hosted by RochAid, will take place at Hollingworth Lake on Sunday (28 November 2010) between 11.00am and 1.00pm.
A spokesperson for the charity said: “We need your support to raise funds for this worthy cause. We are organising a number of different sponsored events starting with a walk. Others to follow include sponsored fast by individuals, a fundraising dinner as well as a sports event
“Local schools and community organisations and members of the community are invited to join us in proving much needed support people in Pakistan.”
Councillor Imtiaz Ahmed said: “As Rochdale is twinned with the Pakistani town of Sahiwal, I feel we have an added responsibility to support them in their time of need. I urge you to participate in the sponsored events to show that Rochdale cares”.
RochAid is a local charity, which was established in 1993 as a result of human suffering in Bosnia and surrounding areas. It is run by a few volunteers who have collected and distributed over £200,000 to date.
