Father Christmas and his reindeer visit Middleton

Date published: 20 November 2010

Families in Middleton were given a special treat today (Saturday 20 November 2010) as Father Christmas and his reindeer visited the town.

Children lined the streets eagerly awaiting the Christmas parade led by the reindeer and Father Christmas from the Middleton Arena to the Middleton Gardens.

Along the way the youngsters faces lit up as they saw the real life reindeer and of course, Father Christmas.

Christmas treats were also handed out to the boys and girls of the town.

The president of the Rotary Club of Middleton, Janice Powell said: “Today has been really good. It is nice to see the children enjoying the reindeer and it is nice for Middleton to go to all this effort.

“It makes it all worthwhile seeing the children enjoying themselves.

“I am glad it is fine and sunny for everyone to enjoy. It is a big success.”

Middleton Councillor Terry Linden said: “The parade is really good. It brings everyone together and it gets people into the town and it’s good for the kids. Now let’s all have a nice Christmas.”

The reindeer parade is part of a variety of festive events taking place in Middleton today. At 4.30pm the Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Zulfiqar Ali and Jim Dobbin MP will switch on the Middleton Christmas lights.
