Next week is Arts week and the theme is Alice in Wonderland. The children have been making lots of preparations for this week and are looking forward to sharing their particular show piece.

The Year 5 and 6 children started their preparations at the beginning of term when they took part in a Croquet Lesson. Year 6 are busy rehearsing to entertain the school with their own interpretation of the Trail Scene from Alice. Year 5 will perform the Jabberwocky.

This week we have had a special dance lessons from Samba Dance and the children have learnt street dance. This has been a wonderful opportunity to extend the curriculum in a fun and topical way. Many thanks to Sam from Samba Dance. What a star.

A quick overview of Arts Week:

  • Tuesday – Helen O’Grady Drama Workshops Years 5 and 6
  • Wednesday – Showcase for all children by all classes
  • Thursday – Ballet visit ‘The Nutcracker’ at The Palace Theatre Manchester. Years 6, 5 and some Year 4
  • Friday – Non Uniform Day – celebrate the Arts Week, come as a character from Alice in Wonderland if you can. If not choose a book character. In the afternoon, the whole school will be involved in a production of Alice in Wonderland performed by The Working Space Theatre.

There is no cost for any of these activities other than the ballet.
