Rochdale Law Association Annual Dinner

Date published: 12 November 2010

Representatives from law firms across the borough of Rochdale joined together this evening (Friday 12 November 2010) for the annual Rochdale Law Association dinner.

Almost 80 guests attended the glamorous event in the Altavista Function Room at the Bellavista Restaurant on Wildhouse Lane, Milnrow.

They were treated to a five course meal, after dinner speeches and a disco.

The guest speaker for the evening was former Rochdale policeman and fundraiser Andy O’Sullivan.

This year a raffle was held to raise money for the Stroke Association of Rochdale. The raffle is a new twist to the annual dinner and guests purchased tickets in the hope of winning a gingerbread house and other items of confectionary.

President of the Rochdale Law Association, Louise Salisbury said: “This is an annual event where solicitors can see each other because although we are all in the same profession we work in different areas so don’t see each other all the time. It is a general get together, a nice sociable evening and it looks like everyone is having a good time.”

Speaking about why she asked Andy O’Sullivan to speak at the event, Ms Salisbury said: “Andy is a local fundraiser who does a lot for charity a lot of people know him and he knows them. We don’t normally do any fundraising at this event but we thought we would do a raffle and the proceeds are going to Andy’s nominated charity, the Stroke Association of Rochdale.”

Mr O’Sullivan said: “I said I would speak at this event with pleasure. It has been a superb night and the company is great. I have seen a few faces this evening that I haven’t seen for years. It is a long time since I have seen so many glamorous people together.”

Summing up the evening Mr O’Sullivan said: “It is a classic evening.”

Organiser Helen Benbow from Molesworths said: “It has been a great night and it has gone perfect.”
