Hard working students from Hopwood Hall College have won the North West Enrichment Award.
The cadets from the College’s Health Studies Course have been taking part in fundraising activities which run alongside their course and their placements at the Rochdale Infirmary.
The students held a charity carwash to raise funds for a new play area and toys at the Infirmary.
One student, Rabia Khanan, organised a ‘Red Day’ for the British Heart Foundation. They raffled off several football pieces including a Rochdale and Oldham signed shirt, 2 tickets to see a Manchester City match and a Carlos Tevez signed picture. They raised around £160 for the charity.
Craig Harrison, Cadet Clinical Educator at Rochdale Infirmary and two cadets, Sam Hayes and Zoe Brogden were heavily involved with organising the hospital pantomime Cinderella, raising money for a department within the hospital.
In June, the Hopwood cadets got together with cadets from other North West colleges to support the academy’s chosen charity, the NSPCC. They released balloons, raising around £180.
The cadets from Hopwood Hall recently attended an award ceremony to collect their prizes. They also took the opportunity to hand over a £1500 cheque to the NSPCC that had been collected over the previous year by cadets across the North West Region.
