Some of the rubbish Mohammed Nurani dumped in Rochdale
A Rochdale-based Indian takeaway owner has been convicted of three counts of fly-tipping.
Mohammed Nurani, 22, of Entwisle Road, pleaded guilty to fly-tipping his business waste in Rochdale on three occasions in July 2010 – once to the rear of Copenhagen Square and twice on Syke Moor.
Nurani, who owns and operates the Amira Indian Takeaway on Bury Old Road, Whitefield, was ordered by the court to pay a total of £1018.95 in fines and costs.
Councillor David Clayton, Cabinet Member for Environment and Leisure at Rochdale Borough Council, said: “We will use all our powers to bring those who blight the borough with fly-tipping to justice.
“Every year, we spend multi-thousands of pounds clearing up rubbish dumped by the mindless few who are adamant to ruin the local environment for our residents and visitors, but instead we want to plough this money into delivering essential front line services.”
