Deeplish Primary School.
Wow, what a busy week “Parents Week” was at Deeplish Primary School. As well as parents coming in to watch their children in their classrooms, some parents actually got the opportunity to work with their children on various projects around the school. The Deeplish Parent Partnership group arranged for outside professional agencies to come in to school and offer activities such as drumming and art. Parents were encouraged to come in to school to see how the curriculum is taught by actually being in the classroom and joining in with classes. Some parents came along at lunchtime to have a meal in the dining hall. Thank you to all members of staff for your hard work during this week. This was again the Deeplish Community and School doing what they do best – working together! Parents have given some very useful feedback which school is looking at.
Year 3 and Year 5 children had lessons in road safety this week with Mr Shah from the Road Safety Team. Amongst other things they learned how important it is to always wear a seatbelt when they travel in a car.
Janine from Expo Chef came to school on Thursday to demonstrate how to cook healthy, tasty dishes. She cooked a vegetable tagine, mackerel cakes and made a fruit smoothie. Some of the children got to taste the meals. They labelled them “delicious!”
The School Council had their second meeting this week and it was as lively as the first. They decided to invite a representative from Moses Schools Outfitters to their next meeting to discuss the design and cost of their school tie. The possibility of a school newspaper was discussed and the council also thought about putting on a performance for “Anti-Bullying Week”
Congratulation to Miss Kiely’s class who swept the board with attendance awards during the Achievement assembly on Friday. Not only did the Key stage 2 class win the attendance trophy for the week, they also won the award for the half term! As well as that, every child came to school on time during the week. Well done! The awards in Key Stage 1 went to Mrs Afzal’s class for the wee, Mrs Akhtar’s class for the half term and Mrs Taylor’s, Mrs Akhtar’s and Mrs Afzal’s classes shared the Early Bird Award. Well done also to Zahra and Fawaaz who won the 100% weekly attendance prizes.
