Fire at abandoned Middleton nightclub
Date published: 29 October 2010
An abandoned Middleton nightclub caught fire last night (Thursday 28 October 2010).
Firefighters were called at 10.26pm after the blaze broke out in the first floor bar area at 7 to 11 Market Place.
No one was injured in the fire which needed five fire engines and a hydraulic platform from Oldham to be put out.
Emergency services from Heywood, Blackley, Rochdale and Manchester Central used a thermal imaging camera, two hoses and one jet to suppress the flames.
This morning fire crews were still at the scene damping down the building.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is being undertaken.
