The under 11’s have had a busy week of sports fixtures.
The rugby team travelled to Littleborough to play in a tournament. They won their opening match against St Mary’s but then were unlucky to lose in their three other matches. Player of the day was Shariq Haidery.
The athletics team took part in a competition at Middleton Technology School. The team competed in a range of activities and finished third overall. Performances of the day came from Robyn Valentine in the long jump and Toby Dodman in the javelin.
The netball team ended the week with an away match at Caldershaw. Beech House never really got going and at times it was scrappy. Beech House lost 5 – 3. Player of the day was Amaar Hasan.
The under 13 and under 15 netball team played against Middleton Technology School. Both matches were competitive affairs but played within the sport of the game. The under 13’s lost 5 – 0, whilst the under 15’s lost 7 – 0. Players of the day were Yolanda Cruz and Paige Bramley.
Year 10 were visited by the Road Safety Team, who gave a presentation on the dangers of drink and drug driving. They were given the opportunity to try out the police ‘Fit to Drive’ test and wear the infamous ‘Beer Goggles’. They were also shown pictures showing the aftermath of reckless driving. All the pupils said they enjoyed the experience and it had made them think about the dangers of driving.
Year 3 and 4 were visited by members of the Fire Service. They were given a presentation about the dangers of fire and also had a ‘go’ on the fire engine. Afterwards, they were all given a goodie bag. Many thanks go to Mr Millington and his colleagues from the Fire Service.
The Upper Prep Progress awards go to Milly Cooper in Year 3 and Talha Mazar in Year 5. Aleem Tahir was given his Prefects badge and Sophie Dunston her Sub-Prefects badge and she becomes 8B's mentor.
The Form of the Week was 10R and the House Point totals are Saturn 71 Mercury 52 Jupiter 21 and Neptune 19.
