Future First Event

The fourth annual Future First event took place at Middleton Arena. The event which was organized by Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council saw about 1500 students from schools across the Borough attending.
The aim of the event is to ensure that all year 11 learners across the Borough are informed in an aspirational way of all options available to them.
The event was supported by Hopwood Hall College who assisted the event in a number of ways including offering interactive tasters in wide variety of vocational subjects.
The media department filmed the event and will create a CD that will be viewed by learners across the Borough as part of the14-19 portfolio.
The College’s Uniformed Public Services students acted as marshals and guides to ensure the event ran smoothly.
Philip Martin Brown who plays Grantly Budgen of Waterloo Road made a visit and children from St Mary’s who were leaving the arena at the time of his arrival also shared in the photo opportunity.
