Councillor Keith Swift hands Chris Evans his Link4Life Fitness membership prize
A Heywood resident is getting a fitness boost thanks to his job hunting efforts.
Chris Evans was among almost 1200 people offered entry to a free prize draw after he visited the borough wide Jobs and Skills Fair held at the Middleton Arena in September.
Earlier this week Mr Evans dropped by the brand new Heywood Sports Village to pick up his prize of three months free all-inclusive anytime Link4Life Fitness membership.
Thrilled to win, Mr Evans said: “When I went to the fair you could see there was lots of information there. I went with a couple of mates who were looking for apprenticeships, one picked up a leaflet and after chasing this up he’s now got an interview. Now, I’m looking forward to using the new sports village when I’m not studying – particularly the weights.”
Presenting the prize Keith Swift, Rochdale Borough Council’s cabinet member for skills and economic recovery, said:“At the Jobs and Skills Fair it was brilliant to see so many people like Chris with the ambition to realise their full potential and transform the borough by improving their skills. I’m just sorry I couldn’t give everyone a prize.”
