Donations pay for new mobility scooters

Date published: 19 October 2010

Rochdale Shopmobility has received nine brand new mobility scooters after donations were made by local charitable grant providers.

This comes as great news for Shopmobility who have provided mobility scooters for local residents with mobility problems for many years and can now offer their service to even more people.

The first two donations came from Rochdale Township and Pennines Township respectively who each kindly provided a grant for a brand new mobility scooter.

The Sport Relief Community Cash Fund also donated a grant for another one.

The Borough of Rochdale Fund, which is managed by the Community Foundation of Greater Manchester and aims to support local community groups and individuals throughout the borough, then generously awarded funding to Shopmobility for a further five scooters.

As Shopmobility placed a bulk order with Phil Rawlinson, the proprietor of Concord Mobility who supply and service all of the scooters for Rochdale Shopmobility, he donated a free scooter for them as well, a great gesture.

Michelle Hollinrake, Manager of Rochdale Shopmobility said: “We are very grateful to all of our sponsors for the new additional mobility scooters.

“We would also like to thank the community foundation of Greater Manchester who facilitated these grants.”
