Chess Club
We are thinking of starting up a Chess Club. If anyone has any old chess sets they are not using, we would really appreciate them. Thank you.
Craft and Coffee Morning
St. Aidan’s Church Hall are holding a Craft and Coffee Morning this Saturday 16 October 11am-1pm. Free entrance. Free Children’s Magic Show 11.30am-12.15pm. Children’s activities; Handmade Cards; Fair-trade food and gift items; Jewellery Stalls and Refreshments. Everyone welcome.
Scholastic Book Fair
We raised approximately £250 worth of books for school from sales at the Book Fair. Thank you for your support and we would also like to say a big thank you to those Year 6 children who did a great job running the book fair.
Swimming Team Training Years 5 & 6 swimming team training is on Friday mornings at 8.30am at Castleton Baths.
Fundraising This year we are producing a whole school calendar. To help with fundraising, we are asking businesses if they would like to advertise on the calendar. If you are interested, please contact Mrs. Taylor.
Year 6 Transfer Forms Transfer forms for secondary school need to be brought back into school as soon as possible.
Dinner Money
Please send dinner money in an envelope with your child’s name and class on. Lunches are now £1.75 per day - £8.75 per week and should be paid on a Monday morning.
School Lunches
There is a copy of the menus on our school portal. Next week we are on Week 3.
Music Lessons
Please ensure your child brings their instruments into school each week.
Clarinet – Monday; Brass – Tuesday and Guitar – Friday.
Lessons are now £2.75 per week –paid either weekly or half-termly.
Castleton Children’s Centre
The free ‘Stay and Play Sessions’ for 0-5yr olds is on here at St. Edward’s School and every Wednesday morning 9am-10.15am. These sessions are really well attended and there are lots of activities for the children to do.
Operation Christmas Child Your child will have received a leaflet with details of the Shoe Box Appeal. The boxes need to be in by Thursday 18th November at the latest.
Team Theme Team Theme Football is on here at school on Tuesdays at 3.30pm.

Harvest Festival
Thank you very much for your donations – all the food has been passed onto PETRUS which is for homeless people in Rochdale.
Halloween Bingo
We are having a Halloween Bingo fun Night on Thursday 21 October. Doors open 6.15pm; eyes down 6.30pm. Entrance (including a drink of juice and a biscuit) – 50p child; £1 adult; £2 family ticket (2 adults + 2/3 children). Books + flyers £1.
There will be prizes for the best child and adult fancy dress costume.
Winter Fair
This year’s Winter Fair is on Friday 19 November. After half term we will be collecting donations of books, toys, good as new, etc. so a good time to have a clear-out!!
If anyone has any raffle prizes they would be willing to donate, we would be very grateful. Thank you.
Cookery Club
Children who have a place at Cookery Club will shortly receive a letter with details. There is a long waiting list. Children on the waiting list will be considered for a place at a later date.
Reception PE
Please ensure children have their PE kit in school every Wednesday.
