Appeal after Middleton robbery

Date published: 24 September 2010

Police are searching for two men following a robbery in Middleton.

The victim was walking down Manchester Old Road between 7:30pm and 8:00pm on Monday 20 September, when he was approached by two men and a woman pushing a pram.

They asked him for a cigarette, so he gave them one and carried on walking.

A few moments later the two men pushed him into an alleyway. One man put him in a headlock while the other grabbed his feet, and they dragged him further down the alley and searched his pockets and stole cash.

They then ran off on to Walker Street, laughing.

One of the offenders is described as white, aged around 19 years, 5ft 8in tall of medium build. He had short light hair and was wearing a white hooded top and white trousers.

The second man is described as white, aged 18 to 19 years, around 5ft 8in of slender build. He had a small goatee beard and was wearing a dark hooded top.

The woman the men were with is described as mixed race and was wearing dark clothing. She was pushing a pram with a child inside.

Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 0161 856 8632 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
