Residents in north Rochdale can have their say about policing

Date published: 27 August 2010

Rochdale North Neighbourhood Policing Team is inviting residents to have their say about crime in the area.

On Saturday 28 August the Have Your Say vehicle will be parked on The Butts in Rochdale Town Centre from 9.30am to 4pm.

Police are inviting residents to pop into the van to talk about local priorities, find out who their local officers are and get crime prevention advice and police updates.

The vehicle has somewhere that people can sit and discuss their concerns with officers in comfort. There is also a play area with special colouring and puzzle packs to keep children occupied while their parents provide officers with feedback.

Sergeant Daniel Shirazi from Rochdale North Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “The team is working hard to tackle the issues that you have told us cause you the most concern. This includes burglary, anti-social behaviour, criminal damage, drug dealing and drug use.

“The week of action in Falinge and the town centre is a direct result of the concerns you have told us about the area. During this week we have been working with the council to catch criminals, deter crime and punish those ignoring the law. We will update the affected communities with results once it’s completed.

“Our new Service Promise outlines our commitment to listen to and act on people’s concerns and work with them to make their neighbourhoods safer. It is really important therefore that people tell us what they think about the work officers are doing to keep them safe.

“The Have Your Say vehicle is just one of the many ways that people can feed their views and concerns through to their Neighbourhood Policing Team. Residents can also ring us on 0161 856 9961 or email us at rochdalenorthpartnership@gmp.police.uk. By keeping us informed you can help us give to give you the first-class policing service that you want and deserve.”

To report crime call police on 0161 872 5050.

You can also call anonymously with information about crime to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Crimestoppers is an independent charity that will not want your name, just your information. Your call will not be traced or recorded and you do not have to go to court or give a statement.
