Bottle thrown into baby's pram
Date published: 24 August 2010
Police are appealing for witnesses after a man threw a cider bottle into a baby’s pram.
At about 2pm on Saturday 21 August 2010, outside the British Heart Foundation on Yorkshire Street, a man approached two women with a pram and asked them for a cigarette. When they refused, he prodded one of the women before throwing a cider bottle in the baby’s pram.
The baby started crying and a witness called the police. However, when officers arrived, the women and baby had left.
Sean Rush, 53, of Allington, has been charged with using threatening words / behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress and is due to appear at Rochdale Magistrate’s Court on 3 September.
Police would like to speak to any witnesses who saw any part of this event, and would particularly like to hear from the two women involved.
Anyone with any information is asked to call Greater Manchester Police on 0161 856 8660, or, if they wish to remain anonymous, Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 1111.
