Triumph for Siddal Moor students

The nervous wait for students at Siddal Moor Sports Collge in Heywood was over today (Tuesday 24 August 2010) as they collected their GCSE results.
Following months of hard work and preparation the teens gathered amongst fellow pupils and staff to open their results envelopes.
The year 11 students at the school have broken all previous school records.
53 per cent of students gained 5 A* to C grades including English and maths which is 10 per cent up on last years results.
79% got five A* - C grades in any subject – making them the schools best ever.
Particularly impressive is the fact that 26 per cent of the college’s students achieved three A* or A grades and 14 per cent achieved 5 A* or A grades.
A spokesperson for Siddal Moor said: “Governors and staff at Siddal Moor are rightly proud of the students’ excellent results this year.
“They have broken all school records and we know that they are a group of young people who will go on to achieve in both the world of work and education.”
Phoebe Harris said: “I am really pleased with my results and I am looking forward to going to Bury College to study maths.”
When Rebecca Greaves asked how she was going to celebrate her results she said: “I would say I'm going for a beer but I’m not allowed!”
Ms Greaves is really pleased with her results and she is going to Bury College to study science.
Alice Moran is excited to have got the grades she needs to go to Bury College to study Health and Social Care and either wants to work with disabled children or be a paramedic
Holly Bleakley has got an apprenticeship in childcare and got the results she wanted.
Tom Donohue who plays the keyboard in a band will be celebrating his results by gigging in Blackpool tonight.
Teacher Margaret Davies, said: “We are seeing some pretty good results I'm very proud of them”
Matthew Weekes and Laila Bouassab said they were “buzzing” about their resulrs
Matthew got eight A* grades, five As and one B and he is going to Holly Cross to study.
Laila is also going to Bury College to study creative media and want to become a primary teacher.
