Fantastic results from Falinge

Falinge Park High School celebrated another year of fantastic GCSE results today (Tuesday 24 August 2010).
The school has managed to surpass its previous records with a huge 67 per cent of pupils achieved five or more A* to C grades.
Head Teacher, Robin Lonsdale said: “We might have one of the oldest secondary school buildings in the Township; however it is the people in the building which make for a successful school. We are grateful for the support of our families in getting the personal best out of our young people.”
One of the success stories comes from Kirsty Allison whose results included nine A’s and one A* in Dance which equivalents to four GCSE’s. Ms Allison said she had worked really hard, and had done everything in which the teachers asked of her.
Ms Allison will now go on to join Rochdale Sixth Form College to study Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths, and then perhaps join Liverpool University in order study Veterinary Medicine.
Perhaps the greatest success story comes from Mark Leicis who moved to England from Latvia in 2006 – at the time he couldn’t speak English.
Mr Leicis GCSE’s include seven Cs one A* and two Bs, he said: “I studied like crazy, so many late nights were needed to get all my revision done, and this is why I achieved good results.”
Mr Leicis will now study at the new sixth form college in Rochdale where he will study media, physical education, I.T and science.
Mohammed Bilal Tayab known as Bilal was thrilled with his marks, and said: “I worked really hard, and I think I did more than what was expected of me.” Balal achieved ten A’s and two A*s, and will now further his studies at Holy Cross College.
Mr Tayab said that waiting for results was nervous; however fasting in the month of Ramadan has helped him to relax at a tense time.
Another over the moon student was Rachel Zobenica from Shawclough with GCSE’s she was awarded six As and five Bs. Ms Zobenica only had a little sleep as nerves got the better of her. She said if she did not revise the amount she did, then she would not have got such fantastic results.
Ms Zobenica is looking forward to starting Bury College where she will study Drama BTEC National Diploma in performing Arts.
Shannon Wild was glad that all the revision and hard work paid off with nine A grades, one B and one A*, she will now further her studies at Manchester City college to study performing Arts Musical Theatre at A-level in pursuit to become a actress. Ms Wild said: “I love to perform dance sing and act and my dream is to see my name in lights”
Rafia Hussain proved to work well under pressure and is now getting ready to study A-levels at Holy Cross College where she will study Chemistry, Biology, Psychology and Maths in the hope to study medicine at university, her results included seven A* four As and one C.
