Date published: 24 August 2010

Balderstone Technology College’s teachers and pupils were all smiles today (Tuesday 24 August 2010) as they celebrated the schools best ever results.

Teenagers eagerly piled into the school hall to collect the envelope with their results in.
In a split second and with the tear of an envelope all the worries and nerves were gone and happy faces filled the room.

Head teacher Paul Wright said: “These are our best results ever, 42 per cent have got five A* to Cs including English and Maths. Last year it was 30 per cent so we are up by 12 per cent.

“I am incredibly pleased, all the hard work put in by the staff and the students has paid off. They all worked so hard with lots of extra revision classes after school at the weekend and even in the Easter holidays.”

Mr Wright added: “We are going out with a great bang which is great and I am pleased that all the hard work and effort can continue into the new school.”

Hafsa Saved achieved the tenth best results in the school year she said: “I am really happy, I couldn’t sleep last night, I didn’t get to sleep until 7am and then I kept waking up, I feel so relieved now.

“I can’t wait to tell my mum.”

Shabana Begum came 14th top out of all the school’s students, she said: “I feel ecstatic but also relieved I am really happy with my results.”

Sarah Slater achieved 15 GCSEs all with grades A to C she said: “I am over the moon.”

Haroon Asha was the top achiever out of the boys at the school, he said: “I am still in shock but I am really happy.”
