Children during the visit with PC Mike Stott and PCSO David Wild
Children from Middleton spent the day with Greater Manchester Police’s Air Support Unit, learning how the helicopter flies and how it helps in the fight against crime.
The children, from Bowlee Primary School, St Thomas More Primary School, St Michael’s Primary School and youngsters attached to Moorclose Tenants and Residents group visited Barton Aerodrome with PCSOs David Wild, Bill Walsh and Dominique Grimes.
They spent the morning with India 99, the force’s helicopter, and with the air support staff who fly it.
PCSO David Wild said: “You could tell from the children’s faces that they really enjoyed the visits. It has opened their eyes to the different roles that police play and also the different modes of transport they use to get out and about and perform their day to day duties.”
