Rochdale man charged with drugs offences

A Rochdale man is one of seven people due before the courts today (Thursday 19 August 2010) in connection with a multimillion pound drugs conspiracy.
Zaid Iqbal, 29 of Coley Street, Rochdale, six other men and one woman will appear before Bradford Magistrates.
The seven people have been charged with conspiracy to supply class A drugs.
On Tuesday (17 August 2010) officers from West Yorkshire Police’s Crime Division supported by Operations Support Division, along with officers from Bradford South and Airedale and North Bradford Divisions and officers from South Yorkshire Police and Greater Manchester Police executed search warrants at 20 addresses in Bradford, Leeds, Rotherham, Doncaster, Rochdale and Oldham.
During the searches officers recovered a taser gun in Bradford and more than £10,000 cash along with a large number of mobile phones.
This cross border investigation sees West Yorkshire Police, South Yorkshire Police and Greater Manchester Police working closely together in order to tackle drugs supply around the region.
