Staff from Kingsway Medical Practice will this year attempt the Yorkshire Dales 3 Peaks Challenge to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Practice Manager Louise Clemens has persuaded Nurse Karen Stone and administrator Tracy Dempsey (with some of their friends) to join her and her partner Mark on this charity walk.
The challenge is to complete the 24 mile course, and summit the 3 mountains Penyghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, in 12 hours.
The staff have reported that training has been going well and the team is hopeful that they will be equal to the challenge – but more sponsors would certainly help morale.
The will take on the challenge on Saturday 28 August.
Ms Clemens, said: “Firstly I would like to thank everyone that has already made a donation. Your support is very much welcome indeed, thank you. We hope to raise as much money as possible. If you are able to make a donation you can do so by popping into the Practice and speaking to either myself or one of the other members of staff.
She added: “The team intends to make this walk an annual event and hopefully next year more people will join. Each year the team will pick a different charity to benefit from the fundraising.”
Kingsway Councillor Naim Mahmud, who is backing the team in their challenge, said: “It’s great to see my local medical practice taking on such a difficult challenge for what is such a worthy cause. The staff at Kingsway Practice already provide such a fantastic job for local people and I hope many of them will now back them in their quest to raise as much money as possible.”
