Councillor Keith Swift and local children alongside the new goalposts
Bentgate Tenants and Residents Association have clubbed together to pay for a brand new set of goalposts for children across the community to use.
The goalposts, which have been placed on the nearby playing field, were identified by Councillor Keith Swift after he contacted the Council for help.
The decision was made to buy the new goalposts after talks between Councillor Keith Swift, local parents and their children as to ways to improve Cedar Lane Play Area. The overwhelming majority requested a set of goalposts much to the delight of the children.
The funding of £500 was provided by Bentgate Tenants and Residents Association.
Milnrow and Newhey Councillor Keith Swift, said: “The new goalposts are a great improvement for the playing fields and I hope local children will enjoy using them. It’s important that the Council helps to provide facilities like this for our community and I would like to thank them for their help in providing the goalposts.
He added: “We are also looking to upgrade the field at the end of autumn and hope to reseed any bare patches.”
