Rochdale man found guilty of fly-tipping

A Rochdale man has been found guilty of fly-tipping and ordered to pay total costs of over £500.
Darminder Singh, 30, of Freetrade Street, Rochdale, pleaded guilty at Rochdale Magistrates Court on 3 August 2010 to depositing waste that was likely to cause environmental pollution or harm to public health.
Mr Singh dumped the waste on open ground on King Street South, Rochdale. The waste was the on fire after Singh had dumped the waste.
Mr Singh was fined £115 and ordered to pay costs and compensation totalling £508.18.
Councillor Irene Davidson, Leader of Rochdale Borough Council, said: “Mr Singh’s conviction shows once again that we will take appropriate and proportionate action against anyone who disposes of waste illegally anywhere in this borough.
“We are thoroughly committed to ensuring the borough is clean and well looked after, and anyone caught standing in the way of this aim shall face the consequences.”
Mr Singh was the 16th person convicted of a waste offence in the Rochdale borough this year.
